30. Skateboarding Shark — Did you hear about the new shark park? The tiny Pacific nation of Palau is creating the world's first shark sanctuary that bans all commercial fishing in a move to protect more than 130 shark and ray species fighting extinction. The tiny nation can only afford one boat to patrol an area nearly the size of Texas and has asked other nations to cooperate and respect their laws when in their waters. They also hope their efforts will inspire other nations to undertake similar conservation endeavors. Since the 1980s, a rapid increase in shark fishing has driven several species to the brink of extinction. We need more shark parks!
