18. Wolf Face — Although, the gray wolf was once the most widely distributed predator on the planet, it was hunted almost to the point of extinction in the U.S. The good news is over 20 years of conservation efforts and the reintroduction of the wolf to habitats like Yellowstone National Park have been very successful and the wolf is making a comeback. In addition to increasing the number of wolves, these reintroduction projects also help to restore the natural balance of the local ecology. Biologists have noted the return of long absent plants in Yellowstone since the wolf’s return. This illustrates just how complex and delicate the balance of nature is.
