11. Cheetah Cub — Who could resist this adorable face? This is Dakota. Hunting for food and protecting their cubs without any help, mother cheetahs must leave their cubs alone. This makes survival for cheetah cubs difficult and sometimes they are orphaned like Dakota. Luckily, she was rescued by the DeWildt Cheetah Sanctuary in South Africa. In addition to raising orphaned cheetah cubs, the DeWildt Cheetah Sanctuary provides trained dogs to shepherds to guard their flocks and scare away cheetahs and eliminate the need to kill them. Once found in 44 countries, they are now extinct in over half of those and only about 12,500 remain scattered in isolated populations throughout Africa and Southwestern Asia.
