33. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) — The mission of TNC is to “preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.” Earth Foundation, along with thousands of dedicated students and teachers across the United States, has worked, since 1992, to raise millions of dollars for TNC’s rainforest Adopt an Acre® campaign. Why are we doing this anyway? Although people often don't realize it, rainforests play an important role in sustaining life outside the rainforest by regulating the global climate and the water cycle, absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and providing us with medicines and food. Together we are working to save the endangered rainforest, as well as its inhabitants, and therefore us, one acre at a time.
