Penguins

21. Penguin — These birds know how to have fun! Not only can they be seen sliding on their bellies along ice and snow, but they love to dive off cliffs and ice flows into the water, hop back up and dive down again - line-ups for good diving spots can get long! Penguins always live in the cold - right? Wrong! While most of them do, the Galapagos penguin actually lives on the equator! Okay here's another - with 18 different species how big is the smallest one? The Little Blue Penguin of Australia is just 2 1/2 lbs and 16 inches tall! Cutie! And the biggest? The Emperor of course! He weighs up to 70 lbs and stands 3 1/2 feet tall - that's eye to eye with a lot of you!  Of the 18 species, 10 are considered endangered or threatened. As climate change reduces ice cover in the Antarctic, the penguins home is threatened. Once again, protecting the rainforest willhelp save their habitat too!
