12. Giraffes — How tall is your best friend? If he were a giraffe he could be as tall as 18 feet! This makes giraffes the tallest mammals on the planet. Can you guess why this comes in handy for them? So they can reach the tops of trees for their dinner and see predators approaching from far, far away! Although they are big, some weighing as much as 4,200 lbs, they seem almost mute to humans. They actually communicate in infrasound which is too low of a frequency for the human ear to hear. If you could hear them, they would say “Thanks a lot!” for helping to preserve their habitat last year in East Africa!
