31. Dove — (peace, love, happiness) Do you know why the dove is the universal symbol for peace? A dove’s return with an olive branch to Noah in the Hebrew Bible was seen as a message from God that the Great Flood was abating and that God’s war with man had ended. Since then, this small bird has become a symbol for peace and hope all over the world. Speaking of peace, do you know which country got rid of it’s army in 1949? Costa Rica! They decided they wanted to focus on education and the environment. With over 25% of their lands already designated for protection, a long history of private conservation and a thriving ecotourism industry, Costa Rica has become a symbol for conservation worldwide. Peace, love and happiness indeed!
