10. Africa — Through generous donations and the help of hard-working schools all around the US last year, The Nature Conservancy was able to adopt and preserve more than 24,000 acres in East Africa’s Rift Valley. With the support of the Adopt an Acre® program and the partnership with the Green Belt Movement and the Jane Goodall Institute, work is being done with the local communities to protect and restore the Forests of the Rift Valley to 10% of their original size. That’s up from the 2% that is currently there. We here at Earth Foundation send a heartfelt thanks out to all of last year’s rainforest rescuers!
